My husband and I (and Chloe) live in a little house on a little street a much bigger house with hardwood floors, a view, and an old Wedgewood stove. I love to garden (except when the weeds are taller than my knees!), and our best dinners have come from garden harvests. While the weeds are growing up to my knees, I also spend time cooking and baking up all kinds of things that make the house smell yummy. Since Scott and I are both sous chefs working opposite shifts at the same restaurant, we don’t see much of each other. (Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?) But that gives me the opportunity to leave little treats for him when he gets home (and make googly eyes at this lovely little girl in the meantime)…and I think he likes it!
My main purpose in writing this blog is an attempt to categorize all my recipes into an easy-to- find, easy-to-cross reference place. Some are old family recipes, some are from friends, some are my own, some are “finds” from other beloved blogs, and some are based on cookbooks that I love. Now, I’ll be able to find them all! (And so will you!) And in the meantime, my musings about the garden (or the weeds) may occupy my time.
And please understand that this site is my “little recipe box”…so recipes may be updated and tweaked as I continue to improve them…enjoy!

Hi Emily! I’m an old friend of Scott’s from Gville…he just told me about your blog! I’m looking forward to browsing through your recipes!

Oh…and I just love your backyard!!
That sorrel is huge!! My mom brought me a sorrel to plant and I keep forgetting to get it in the ground, needless to say it’s not very big. You’ve inspired me to get out there and take care of it. I love sorrel. Sorrel soup is also really great!
Oooh, Emily! This is my dream: one of my favorite chefs, whom I have had the privilege to know and work alongside, has a food blog. Amazing. I will read it diligently. I have already learned a new beet-peeling technique.
hooray, it will keep us connected!
Hi, Emily – I feel like we’re related! Your Mom (Claudia True Brunsvold) and I have “met” over the internet and it’s amazing how much we have in common – but I think you know that. “Your” Claudia True sent a link to your blog. I’m so happy to see it and can’t wait to try some of your recipes. This is so fun. She’s right – your writing is charming! And your recipes look delicious. I’ll check often – Love the rainbow story!!
Emily!

Dear Emily.
Have just looked through your blog. Looks very nice. Would like to taste some of these goodies some day. Hope all is well with you and your husband. It`s a long time since you came visiting us now. Time you thought about another visit.
